The Hobby Shop (address) held a Warhammer Fantasy Battle Rogue Trader on May 15th, 2004. Knowing their somewhat rocky relations with GW, this probably wasn’t an official RTT, but it used RTT scenarios and score sheets and followed the RTT format close enough that it didn’t matter.
The Hobby Shop had improved its game room since the last time I had played there. The smaller tables (cannibalized from the enormous wargaming tables they had previously) were a welcome change. The terrain was adequate if not spectacular (comparable to most store owned terrain in St Louis shops).
The field consisted of 9 players and a store ringer thrown in to even things out (thanks Mark). From memory, I recall 2 Kehmri armies, 2 Bretonian armies, 1 Skaven army, 2 Orc & Goblin armies, 1 Chaos Daemon army, 1 Vampire Count army, and 1 Dark Elf army.
I brought 2000 points of my Dark Elves. This army was different from what I’ve usually been playing in that it was extremely low magic. I wanted to play with some different toys, so I decided that I would sacrifice magic offense and hope that limited magic defense (4 dispel dice, 2 scrolls) would see me through. The Hydra Banner in a unit of Cold One Knights isn’t particularly original, but I haven’t used it too many times and I thought the change away from a spell casting army would be interesting. This was also my first experiment with the Gauntlet of Power on a Highborn and I was looking forward to seeing the WFB version of the powerfist in action.
