| On January 17th, 2004 a group of locals got together at Dragon King Hobbies in St Charles, MO to play a big game of Warhammer 40k. I had been building obstacles, razorwire, tank traps, minefields, and bunkers for use in 40k games and I wanted to try them out in a big game. I modified the strongpoint attack scenario from the 40k rulebook to scale it up to a bigger game. There was a lot of interest in playing and we ended playing on a 12 foot board with 5 players on either side. The game went fairly well with large amounts of carnage on either side. It predictably ended in a tie. The only flaw with the scenario is that attackers can bunch towards one end of the table and avoid the other end. This is not a huge problem if the defenders have a mobile reserve to reinforce the defenses on that side, but it can be a problem iif the defenders are slow because some defending players will be left out of the action for all or part of the game. The scenario is availible as a word document at the link below. | ||||||
